‘Sustainable development … meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.‘ – Brundtland Commission
I am continually struck by the fact that most owner builders are not only concerned with the sustainability of their own project but with the overall influence they can have by demonstrating that it is possible to build a sustainable home on a reasonable budget.
Building with mud brick, using resources from your own land, is one of the most basic ways of acheiving this. The extract article this issue showcases this perfectly.
Hard copy back issues a thing of the past. The magazine will still be printed in hard copy each issue, and be available in that format through newsagents and to subscribers who are current at posting date. However, there will no longer be any hard copy versions of back issues available. All are still available as digital PDF versions – just remember to provide your email address when ordering.
P.S. I need your support so that I can continue to produce this great resource, showcasing small scale sustainable projects, often using ‘lesser known’ materials, products and techniques. If you are a regular reader and enjoy the content provided, please consider taking out a subscription. Thank you.
